Did you know...
February is such a fun month for gemstones!
First, February's birthstone is an Amethyst! That beautiful purple stone that comes in a variety of shades (see more below).
Second, to keep the purple-ish theme going, there's Valentine's Day! And I think all of the following colors make beautiful gifts for Valentine's Day: Purple (any shade), Pink, Red, or any combo of these! Not just jewelry, whatever you think your Love, well... loves! I love purple, so anything in purple works for me!
Now on to the fun purple stuff...
Amethyst is a beautiful blend of violet and red that can be found in every corner of the world. Amethyst and citrine are both forms of quartz and are often found in the same location... which is where you'll find Ametrine! 💜💛 That beautiful combination of purple and yellow.
Amethyst gets its color from irradiation and iron impurities. This gemstone can range from a light pinkish violet to a deep purple that can read more blue or red, depending on the light.
Amethyst is associated with protection, balance and clarity. It can help you see things clearly and not be clouded by emotions or anger allowing you to calmly deal with any problems or issues life might throw at you.
Care & Cleaning
- To minimize scratching and wear, store each piece of fine jewelry separately in a soft cloth or padded container.
- Amethyst can be safely cleaned with warm soapy water. Ultrasonic cleaners are usually safe except in the rare instances where a stone is dyed or treated by fracture filling.
- Steam cleaning is not recommended, and amethyst should not be subjected to heat.
